Two leading experts have been appointed as members of the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs.
The Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs (ACMD) has appointed 2 additional leading experts.
Professor Steve Allsop and Professor Keith Humphreys, who were appointed on 1 February 2026, are the latest experts to join the ACMD, which provides advice and makes recommendations to the government on the harms caused by drugs.
Their appointments follow the announcement of 14 leading experts joining the ACMD in 2025.
Professor Allsop is Emeritus Professor at the National Drug Research Institute, Curtin University, Australia.
Professor Keith Humphreys is the Esther Ting Memorial Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Sciences at Stanford University in California.
The appointments have been made in accordance with the Governance Code on Public Appointments.
