ACT Public School Enrolments Now Open For 2026

Enrolments are now open for all students — from preschool through to Year 12 — who will be starting at a new ACT public school in 2026.

Families are encouraged to apply by 6 June 2025 to receive an offer from 28 July 2025 and get a head start on planning for the new school year.

Every ACT child from kindergarten to Year 12 is guaranteed a place at their local public school within their priority enrolment area.

"Your local public school has a place for your child to learn, grow, and reach their full potential," Minister for Education Yvette Berry said.

"ACT public schools are welcoming environments committed to ensuring children feel safe, valued and have the chance to excel and be supported in their learning.

"Our dedicated teachers and staff work closely with families to ensure children feel safe, valued and inspired during their learning journey."

In 2026, preschool to Year 2 students living in Strathnairn, Macnamara, and parts of Holt are included in a shared priority enrolment area for both the new Strathnairn school and Kingsford Smith School. Students in Years 3 to 6 from these areas will be in the priority enrolment area for Kingsford Smith School in Holt.

"Enrolments are also open for students in preschool to Year 2 at the new primary school in Strathnairn," Minister Yvette Berry said.

"The new Strathnairn Primary School is being delivered in stages, starting with preschool to Year 2 for the 2026 school year."

Families who apply after 6 June 2025 will receive an offer later in the year.
