Enrolments for ACT public schools open next week, on Monday 4 May, for all students from preschool to year 12 who are starting at a new school in 2027.
Every ACT child from kindergarten to year 12 is guaranteed a place at their local school within their priority enrolment area (PEA).
Apply by 5 June 2026 to receive an offer from 3 August 2026 and start planning for the 2027 school year.
"Enrolments are also opening for the new primary school in the suburb of Whitlam which has been planned to cater for up to 780 students from preschool to year 6," Minister Berry said.
Strathnairn School, which opened this year for preschool to year 2 students, will also invite enrolments up to year 6.
The PEA for Strathnairn School includes Holt (Chester Close, Fullston Way, Lionel Rose Street and Lorraway Street only), Macnamara and Strathnairn.
Whitlam's PEA is the suburb of Whitlam.
The Education Directorate will confirm the year levels being offered at both of these schools for 2027 after enrolment applications are received.
The decision will be based on enrolment demand, ensuring there are sufficient student numbers to offer a full educational experience and peer interaction in each year level.
"If class numbers are not viable for all levels at both schools, students will be enrolled in their nearby PEA schools – for Whitlam this is Evelyn Scott School and for Strathnairn it is Kingsford Smith School. Students applying outside these suburbs will be enrolled at their PEA school," Minister Berry said.
The PEA for college students in the suburb of Florey changes this May, with students now in a shared zone for either Melba Copland Secondary School or Hawker College.
"Your local public school has a place for your child to learn, develop and reach their potential," Minister Berry said.

Some schools may advise families of enrolments earlier than 3 August because students enrolling at their local Priority Enrolment Area School are guaranteed a place. All applications made after 6 June will receive an offer later in the year.
