Additional charge laid after child seriously assaulted - Cabramatta

Detectives have laid an additional charge as part of an investigation into the serious assault of a child at a Cabramatta home last month.

Emergency services were called to a home on Chadderton Street about 9.50pm on Friday 28 August 2020, after reports of an assault.

Officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command attended and found a five-year-old boy suffering serious injuries.

He was treated by paramedics before being taken to Liverpool Hospital before being transferred to the Children's Hospital at Westmead where he remains in a stable condition.

A 20-year-old old man and a 31-year-old woman - known to the child - were charged and remain before the courts.

Following further investigations, an additional offence of wound person intend to cause grievous bodily harm (DV) will be laid on the woman at court today (Wednesday 9 September 2020).

The woman remains on remand is due to appear at Liverpool Local Court.
