Additional charges laid after Wetherill Park RES investigation into drug supply

Detectives have laid additional charges as investigations continue into the manufacture and distribution of methamphetamine and heroin in Sydney's south west.

In December 2018, officers from Wetherill Park Region Enforcement Squad (RES) established Strike Force Dewed to investigate the supply of prohibited drugs within the South West Metropolitan Region.

Following extensive inquiries, strike force detectives arrested two men – aged 38 and 29 – and a 46-year-old woman at a home in Liverpool on Thursday 31 January 2019, after a sophisticated drug laboratory was uncovered.

Last month, investigators arrested a further eight people and executed five search warrants at homes in Bass Hill, Fairfield East, Villawood, Guilford West and Canley Heights.

All 11 people have been charged and remain before the courts.

As a result of further investigations, Strike Force Dewed detectives re-arrested a 29-year-old man at a Silverwater about 8.45am on Wednesday 7 August 2019.

He was charged with supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis, supply prohibited drug (indictable quantity) and two counts of supply prohibited drug.

The man was refused bail and will appear at Liverpool Local Court today (Monday 12 August 2019).

Investigations under Strike Force Dewed are continuing.

Anyone with information about the supply and distribution of prohibited drugs is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence.
