SA Gov

The Malinauskas Labor Government's new Adelaide Aquatic Centre has made a splash in its first three months of operation, welcoming more than 206,000 visitors through its doors.

The world class facility is averaging more than 2,000 visits each day, attracting patrons of all ages and abilities.

Demand for programs and memberships continues to grow, with more than 3,000 people are now enrolled in learn-to-swim classes (up from 2,000 at opening) while health and wellness memberships have nearly doubled to exceed 3,100.

More than 100 sporting, community and health groups have returned to the state-of-the-art North Adelaide centre after being temporarily accommodated at alternative venues during construction.

The centre's waterslides have proven especially popular, with more than 100,800 rides recorded across the four slides in just three months.

Operator YMCA Aquatic runs the new Adelaide Aquatic Centre, as well as the SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre at Oaklands Park with reciprocal rights in place for gym and swim across both venues.

The investment we made in the new Adelaide Aquatic Centre is already delivering significant dividends for the community, with more than 200,000 people through the doors in just a few short months.

It has become a place for South Australian families of all shapes, sizes and ages to find connection, community and physical activity – rather than sitting alone and staring at a screen.

This is the sort of community infrastructure we have prioritised as a government and we will continue to do so.

The Adelaide Aquatic Centre is a world-class aquatic centre that caters for everyone, from families and recreational swimmers through to athletes and community groups.

To see more than 200,000 visits in just three months, along with strong growth in learn-to-swim and health and wellness memberships, shows how important this facility is to the South Australian community.

The Adelaide Aquatic Centre is not just a place to swim - it's a vibrant, inclusive space supporting health, wellbeing and community connection.

As put by YMCA Aquatic General Manager Adam Luscombe

The numbers tell part of the story. But what stands out is how quickly the Adelaide Aquatic Centre has become part of everyday life.

Families, athletes, and community members across South Australia have made it their own.
