Adelaide smash and grab

Police Dog Edge has arrested a man in the CBD this morning.

About 1.40am Thursday 15 February police were called to a licenced premises on the corner of Hindley Street and Morphett Street after a man was seen to smash his way into the business with a gas bottle.

The man entered the building before leaving a short time later with several bottles of alcohol.

Hindley patrols and PD Edge were quickly on scene, with Edge tracking west along Hindley then north on Register Street. Here Edge indicated to a stairwell. Inside Edge found a 24-year-old Elizabeth Downs man and placed him under arrest.

In the man's possession patrols found a bag containing bottles of alcohol. He has been charged with serious criminal trespass, theft, unlawful possession and breach of bail. He was refused bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrate Court today.
