Australia's beloved soccer team, the Matildas, kicked off the tournament on Sunday 1 March.
The tournament runs from 1 - 21 March with matches taking place in Perth, the Gold Coast and Sydney.
It brings hundreds of female athletes from across Asia to compete for the Championship title.
This event provides a great opportunity to celebrate the Matildas on home soil again, following a thrilling performance during the FIFA Women's World Cup in 2023.
In line with Australia's National Sport Strategy, Sport Horizon, the Australian Government invested $15 million to support the planning and delivery of this tournament.
Tournaments like this provide an important spotlight on women's sport and harness the rising popularity of women's football to:
- inspire young girls and women from all walks of life
- drive participation in football
- promote gender equity
- showcase Australia to the world
- achieve national cultural and economic benefits.
The Australian Government is supporting other international women's sporting events in the lead up to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, including the Netball World Cup 2027, Women's Softball World Cup Finals 2027 and Women's Rugby World Cup 2029.
