AgriFutures Australia has appointed two new members to its Export Fodder Advisory Panel , ensuring continued expertise to guide research, development and extension (RD&E) investment for the industry.

Experienced agricultural leaders Dr Georgina Pengilley and Georgina Troup bring deep industry knowledge, commercial insight and a strong commitment to delivering outcomes for levy payers.

AgriFutures Levied and Emerging Industries General Manager Sam Beresford, said the appointments reflect the organisation's ongoing focus on ensuring RD&E investment is informed by practical and outcome focused Advisory Panels.

Research experience and expertise to strengthen decision-making

With more than 25 years' experience in the agricultural sector, Dr Georgina Pengilley has worked across livestock, grains and irrigated cropping research, development and extension.

She brings a strong commercial focus and a proven track record in leading transformation across agricultural RD&E, underpinned by a practical understanding of farming systems and regional communities.

Her background in both science and farming provides a valuable perspective to help ensure levy investments deliver tangible benefits for growers.

Georgina Troup joins the Panel with more than 15 years' experience across the export fodder and grains industries, spanning commercial production, national research leadership and industry governance.

As Director of Currahee Farms in Western Australia, she is directly involved in producing high-quality fodder and grain for domestic and export markets, giving her strong insight into business decision-making under climate, market and cost pressures.

In parallel, she is a Research Scientist and Program Leader with the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, where she has led major national initiatives such as the National Hay Agronomy Project and oat RD&E programs aimed at improving productivity, quality and profitability.

Her experience working across growers, exporters, processors and peak industry bodies, further strengthens the Panel's capability to guide industry-relevant RD&E investment.

Supporting a productive and profitable export fodder industry

AEXCO Executive Officer, Denis McGrath welcomed the new appointments, "AEXCO, on behalf of Australia's export fodder industry, welcomes the announcement of two highly credentialed individuals, Dr Georgina Pengilly and Ms Georgie Troup to the AgriFutures Export Fodder Advisory Panel."

The Export Fodder Advisory Panel plays a key role in guiding AgriFutures' investment priorities, ensuring research and extension activities address industry needs and deliver value to levy payers.

AgriFutures also acknowledges the valuable contribution of outgoing panel members Dr Andrew Walter and Pat Guerin, whose leadership and expertise have helped shape RD&E investment and support the continued growth and development of the export fodder industry.

The addition of Dr Georgina Pengilley and Georgina Troup reinforces the Panel's ability to provide independent, evidence-based advice to support a productive, profitable and sustainable export fodder industry.

The AgriFutures Export Fodder Program invests in research, development and extension (RD&E) to improve the productivity, profitability and sustainability of the Australian export fodder industry. Guided by its current RD&E plan, the Program focuses on producing consistent, high-quality export-grade fodder, maintaining and growing access to international markets, supporting innovation across the supply chain, and accelerating the adoption of research outcomes by industry.
