Aid Increase for Child Sex Abuse Victims

  • $4.2 million to support victims and survivors of child sexual abuse
  • Funding will support the continuation of the Multi-Agency Investigation Support Team for victims and survivors and their families throughout the criminal justice process

The State Government is investing a further $4.2 million to support victims and survivors of child sexual abuse as part of its record investment in child protection.

The funding will ensure the continuation of the Multi-Agency Investigation Support Team (MIST) to provide support to children and young people who have experienced child sexual abuse and their families throughout the criminal justice process.

The service offers a unique wraparound and integrated response by facilitating access to therapeutic supports, psychoeducation and health services for victims and survivors and their family.

MIST is a cross-agency, cross-disciplinary team comprised of the Child Abuse Squad in the WA Police, child and family advocates and therapeutic support services.

Parkerville Children and Youth Care has been awarded the $4.2 million two-year grant to continue the service in Armadale, Midland and Rockingham.

MIST was established by Parkerville in 2010 to deliver a critical multi-agency, trauma-informed support service for victims and survivors of intrafamilial and extrafamilial child sexual abuse from 0-18 years.

The $4.2 million funding boost was announced as part of National Child Protection Week, held from Sunday, 7 September to Saturday, 13 September 2025.

This year's theme is 'Every Conversation Matters: Shifting Conversation to Action' and is an important reminder that everyone has a role to play in keeping children and young people safe.

As stated by Child Protection Minister Jessica Stojkovski:

"The Cook Labor Government is committed to keeping children and young people safe through its record investment in child protection.
