Aircraft Cabin Environment Sensors trial

Jetstar will trial Teledyne Aircraft Cabin Environment Sensors (ACES) on three of its domestic A320 aircraft to allow engineers to test the benefits of having access to real time monitoring and measuring of air quality in the cabin and flight deck, and an added layer of protection in preventing smoke, fume or odor events.

The Teledyne ACES technology continuously monitors and measures air quality to provide comprehensive cabin environmental data for every flight, assisting engineers to check and maintain cabin air quality in each aircraft as part of its maintenance program.

Jetstar Airways Manager Supplier Services, Engineering, Matt McCrum said Jetstar was an early adopter of new technologies and this data would assist engineers in identifying if there are any specific maintenance requirements for individual aircraft.

"We're always on the lookout for new innovations and technologies to enhance the way we operate and conduct maintenance on our aircraft, and we are looking forward to trialing Teledyne's ACES technology in our Airbus A320 fleet.

"Having access to this real time data will allow us to gain even more insight into the performance of our aircraft and ensure the highest quality of cabin air is always maintained."

The trial will run for 12 months from December 2021, and the technology will then be assessed for broader roll out.
