All national parks on NSW South Coast continue to be closed

All national parks on the South Coast, including tracks, trails and campgrounds on the South Coast, are closed and will continue to be closed until further notice.

Myrtle Beach, Murramarang National Park

These parks have been closed for some time in recognition of the dry conditions in the area and the difficult fire weather. Visitors are requested to comply with these closures and stay out of the parks.

"The closures include campgrounds in national parks on the South Coast, the closure of Visitor Centres at Minnamurra and Fitzroy Falls, and closure of popular walking tracks, including popular waking tracks in Morton National Park at Mount Bushwalker and Pigeon House Mountain Didthul and the Light to Light Walk in in Ben Boyd National Park" Mr Weeks said.

"Campgrounds on the South Coast are also closed, including popular sites in Ben Boyd National Park, Mimosa Rocks National Park, Eurobodalla National Park, Murramarang National Park, and Budderoo National Park," he said

"Total closure" means no public access at all and includes tracks, trails, campgrounds and picnic areas. Parks will only reopen when considered safe.

Road closures are very likely so check with LiveTraffic before travelling through any national park and generally avoid driving in any bushland.

Mr Weeks said NPWS is a key support agency for bushfire response and has more than 1,000 trained firefighters which it deploys to wildfires and hazard reduction throughout the year, including supporting RFS and NSW Fire and Rescue.

A full list of the closures is available at NPWS alerts.
