All Routes lead to Perth in 2025

  • WA to host leading aviation and tourism event, Routes Asia 2025
  • Event to generate millions of dollars in delegate expenditure
  • WA's status as Western Gateway to Australia further cemented

Western Australia has beaten strong international competition to win the hosting rights for Routes Asia 2025 a leading aviation event for international airlines and tourism organisations.

Perth's winning bid, through Tourism Western Australia and Perth Airport, will shine the international aviation spotlight on Australia's western hub.

For more than 25 years, Routes has been the key event for aviation decision makers to discuss and negotiate air services development.

Routes Asia 2025 is expected to attract more than 1,100 delegates to Perth, generating over $6 million in delegate expenditure and further cementing WA's status as the Western Gateway to Australia.

Routes Asia is attended by key decision-makers from over 170 airlines and 300 airports who will descend on Perth in March 2025 for the three day forum.

As stated by Tourism Minister Rita Saffioti:

"Routes Asia is one of the premier planning events for the aviation sector and to have it hosted here in Perth shows how important our State is in the global aviation industry, solidifying our status as the Western Gateway to Australia.

"Direct flights and aviation links are a key part of our tourism strategy, and we're really proud to have secured or relaunched 18 direct flights with international destinations since borders reopened last year.

"Routes Asia will provide a fantastic opportunity to continue our engagement with key players in the aviation industry and keep advocating for more services into Western Australia.

"The event will also position our State as a world-class host of business events and give leaders from the aviation industry a chance to experience our beautiful city first-hand.

"Importantly, these large-scale business events also inject significant delegate expenditure into our economy, showcasing the tourism, trade and business capital our State has to offer to the world."

As stated by Perth Airport's Chief Commercial and Aviation Officer Kate Holsgrove:

"Routes Asia gives us the opportunity to promote Perth directly to international airlines and raise the profile of our incredible destination and all that Perth and Western Australia has to offer.

"In the post-pandemic aviation sector, there has been enormous competition from airports around the world to reconnect international services and secure new routes.

"Perth Airport and Tourism WA have worked tirelessly to reconnect Perth to international destinations, an approach which has already delivered new services, new airlines and increased capacity on existing routes.

"Routes Asia is the right event to turbocharge these efforts and take Perth and Western Australia to the next level. Developing new air services to Perth and enhancing the international network of airlines within the Asia region and beyond will benefit tourism, business, international education and fresh produce export sectors.

"Hosting Routes Asia provides a rare opportunity to bring these key influencers together in Perth to experience the destination, highlight the opportunities offered as Australia's western hub and Western Australia's major capital city, recognise existing airline partners and increase connectivity.

"As well as the direct economic benefits of hosting an event attracting more than 1,100 delegates to Perth, the opportunity to increase connectivity with Asia will deliver long-term benefits from increased business and tourism activity."
