Almost five times limit in Tootgarook

A man is expected to front court after crashing his car while allegedly almost five times the legal alcohol limit in Tootgarook yesterday.

Officers were called to Burdett Street following reports a blue BMW sedan crashed into a tree about 7pm.

Upon arrival, the car was abandoned, and the driver had left the scene.

Officers established the car had false plates, was unregistered and had no interlock inside.

Shortly after, officers attended a nearby address and arrested a 60-year-old man.

He was transported to a police station where he allegedly returned a positive oral fluid test and had an evidentiary reading of .233.

The man had his licence immediately suspended and is expected to be charged on summons with drive exceeding breath alcohol concentration, drug driving, use unregistered vehicle, use number plates not issued to vehicle and breach interlock condition.
