Yesterday, the Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Chet Greene, Antigua and Barbuda's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Barbuda Affairs, on the margins of the Pathways to Peace: Second International Conference on Returning Ukrainian Children, Detained Civilians, and Prisoners of War, held in Toronto on September 28 and 29, 2026.
Minister Anand thanked Minister Greene for Antigua and Barbuda's participation in the conference and shared Canada's appreciation for his country's continued engagement on these important issues.
The ministers discussed preparations for the 2026 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, to be held in St. John's, Antigua and Barbuda, on November 1 to 4. Minister Anand highlighted Canada's support and appreciation for Antigua and Barbuda's hosting role and leadership efforts, including capacity-building assistance.
The ministers exchanged views on opportunities to deepen trade and investment ties between the two countries.
Minister Anand also underscored Canada's interest in supporting Antigua and Barbuda's agricultural sector and food security goals through Canadian agri-tech solutions, technical expertise and reliable suppliers of high-quality food products.
