Locals are set to celebrate stories, creativity and imagination when acclaimed Australian children's author Andy Griffiths visits Wagga Wagga this Saturday 9 May 2026.
The 2026–27 Australian Children's Laureate is bringing Andy Griffiths Live; a lively, interactive free family event, to town as part of his Reading is an Adventure tour.
Best known for his wildly popular Treehouse series, the JUST! books and the much‑loved You & Me stories, Griffiths has inspired generations of young readers with his humour, energy and playful approach to storytelling.
Andy Griffiths newly released Let's Go series, launched to coincide with his Laureate term, continues his mission to spark imagination through stories, poems, cartoons and comic strips.
Library Services Manager Christine Bolton said the library is thrilled to have Andy Griffiths visit as part of his Reading is an Adventure tour.
"Andy is one of Australia's most beloved children's authors, and he has a wild imagination, so the event on Saturday is sure to be a lot of fun," Ms Bolton said.
"He will be sharing his love for reading and writing, drawing, and exploring the imagination in a warm and inclusive atmosphere.
"An Auslan interpreter will also be present at the event to support inclusivity.
"This is a free interactive event for the whole family, expect lots of laughs, unexpected twists and surprises."
Andy Griffiths' latest books and popular favourites will be available for purchase in the Civic Theatre's foyer after the show, and Andy will be there to sign books and take photos with fans.
Following the main session, local artist Elaine Camlin will be running two creative art workshops at the Wagga Wagga Art Gallery, inspired by You and Me and the Land of Lost Things.
Children will draw inspiration from Andy Griffiths' words and the illustrations of Bill Hope to explore the idea of lost and treasured objects.
This special double event promises inspiration, laughter and creativity for the whole community.
Andy Griffiths Live is presented by Wagga Wagga City Library in partnership with the Australian Children's Laureate Foundation, and supported by the NSW Government through a NSW State Library Local Priority Grant.
The Andy Griffiths Live event will be held at the Wagga Wagga Civic Theatre, Saturday 9 May 2026, 10.30am – 11.30am, followed by the book signing in the foyer after the event.
Children's art workshops will be held in the E3 Art Space at the Wagga Wagga Art Gallery at 1pm and 3pm.
