Murrindindi Shire Council is inviting both locals and visitors to join the official opening of the exhibition titled 'Let Me Be Myself – The Life Story of Anne Frank' on Saturday 27 April at 11.00 am at the Alexandra Library.
This remarkable exhibition, produced by the Anne Frank House, brings to life the touching story of Anne Frank, a Jewish German girl, and victim of the Holocaust, who is now famous for keeping a diary of her experiences while she and her family were in hiding, avoiding Nazi persecution.
The exhibition is being held at the library from 1 May to 29 June 2024 during usual library opening hours and entry is free. It is suitable for families and highlights prejudice, and discriminatory issues then and now through young voices.
'Let Me Be Myself' includes eight historical modules that weave Anne's personal story with the broader context of her time. Visitors will gain insight into Anne's joyful childhood in Frankfurt, her immigration to Amsterdam, and her life in hiding. The exhibition also sheds light on the rise of the National Socialists, the Holocaust, and the impact of anti-Jewish measures on individuals like Anne Frank.
Explore her extraordinary story and how it's relevant today through the historical modules, a model of the Anne Frank House, extracts from her diary, Second World War memorabilia and a copy of her diary.
