RMIT is pleased to announce the establishment of the Saskia Loer Hansen Memorial Scholarship in memory of our friend and colleague.
Saskia devoted her life to education. She was an extraordinary leader with exceptional intellect and great humanity, and she has left an indelible mark on our community and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
The Saskia Loer Hansen Scholarship will enable an RMIT student from any program, facing financial disadvantage, to take part in a global experience - reflecting Saskia's passion for international connection.
Through this scholarship, we will continue to honor Saskia's life and ensure her legacy is one of positive contribution.
At a Memorial hosted by RMIT last week, Chancellor Peggy O'Neal AO awarded Saskia a posthumous Honorary Doctorate of Business in recognition of her contribution.
"We hold the recipients of Honorary Doctorates up as examples for our students, our graduates and the wider University community," said O'Neal.
"We honour their life and their service because of the way they embody the positive impact we aspire to create. I can think of no better candidate than Saskia Loer Hansen."
Saskia's friend Professor Kathy Daniels accepted the award on behalf of her family in front of more than 600 people from across the RMIT community and the sector in Australia and around the world.
