Announcing SECURE For Export Control, Research Security

University of Kentucky

The Office of the Vice President for Research announces the creation of a new unit - Security, Export, Compliance and University Research Engagement (SECURE).

Under the oversight of the Associate Vice President for Research Integrity, SECURE is responsible for the University of Kentucky's compliance for research projects in the areas of export controls, research security, research data security, conflict of interest, and conflict of commitment.

Federal requirements in these areas have greatly expanded, and SECURE will be our hub to train investigators and protect the university in these critical areas.

As we announced on Aug. 28, all investigators at UK must complete the new "Research Security Training (Combined)" through CITI by Oct. 1. This training fulfills the requirements described by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Sept. 11's "Implementation of NIH Research Security Policies," NOT-OD-25-154 and fulfills requirements of other federal agencies. See step-by-step directions on how to access this training on SECURE's Research Security page.

Please watch for future announcements from SECURE, and visit the SECURE website to learn more.
