There will be more police on the beat in Western Australia with 141 new officers graduating overnight.
Police Minister Paul Papalia congratulated the 94 men and 47 women from the Silver, Grey, Red, Green and White squads as they graduated from the Joondalup Police Academy in front of proud family and friends.
The new officers vary in age from 18 to 48 years old (with an average age of 30 years).
Twenty-three originate from culturally and linguistically diverse communities, seven are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders and 25 can speak another language.
More than a third of the graduates were born overseas in countries including Romania, Saudi Arabia, Kenya, South Africa, India, Ghana, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
The graduates come from a diverse range of employment backgrounds including a former sous chef, flight attendant, lifeguard, electrician; even a former dental nurse.
There are around 300 recruits currently in training and the academy will remain at capacity as hundreds more police are recruited and trained over the next four years.
As stated by Police Minister Paul Papalia:
"I congratulate and welcome our newest officers.
"The McGowan Government's massive investment in police will result in an unprecedented 15 per cent expansion of the WA Police Force over the next four years.
"That means more police in the community proactively targeting crime and keeping Western Australians safe.
"I wish all our new officers long, rewarding and safe careers."
