ANZ welcomes Federal and NSW support for business

ANZ today welcomed the joint Federal and New South Wales Governments' support package for businesses and households impacted by the Greater Sydney lock-downs while also reinforcing it would once again support customers in need.

Under the Joint-Government support package, companies with an annual turnover of up to $50 million will be able to access a cash flow boost provided they maintain employees' roles. Additional payments for individuals impacted by the pandemic have also been made available.

The Federal Government also stated that the support package would be offered to any other state or territory that experiences an extended lockdown.

ANZ Chief Executive Officer Shayne Elliott said: "Today's package from the Federal and New South Wales Governments will provide financial certainty for households and businesses impacted by the recent lockdowns in Greater Sydney.

"We all know cash flow is the lifeblood of business and the support measures announced today will go a long way to alleviating the challenges that businesses will face over the coming period.

"Since the start of the pandemic we have worked with the Federal and State Governments to help Australians through a number of financial challenges and we are ready to do so again. If any of our customers need support or are feeling uncertain I urge them to get in contact as quickly as possible," Mr Elliott said.
