Appeal after assault, steal offences at Rosebery

Police are appealing for public assistance after an incident of assault and stealing occurred in Rosebery yesterday.

About 6pm yesterday (Thursday 31 March 2022), police were told a man was observed walking into a store on Botany Road, Rosebery and hide two bottles of champagne inside his jacket.

When he was confronted by an employee of the store, police were told the man assaulted the employee then threatened him with one of the bottles and a screwdriver before leaving the scene on foot, heading north on Botany Road.

Officers attached to South Sydney Police Area Command attended and commenced an investigation

As inquiries continue, police have released an image of a man who may be able to assist.

The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged between 40 and 50 years, 170cm tall, of medium build, with grey hair. He is depicted wearing a blue facemask and a blue tracksuit with "Tommy Hilfiger" printed in white letters. He was last seen carrying a black backpack.
