Appeal after reported child approach at Hazelbrook

Police are appealing for information after reports of a child approach near the Blue Mountains today.

About 10.30am (Sunday 23 January 2022), two boys – aged 10 and 13 – were riding their bikes near Mt View Avenue, Hazelbrook, when an unknown male approached them and asked if he could take photos of them.

The boys refused and returned home.

Police were notified and officers attached to Blue Mountains Police Area Command have commenced an investigation.

As inquiries continue, police are appealing for witnesses who may be able to assist in identifying the male.

He is described as being of African appearance, about 20-30 years of age, 170cm tall and was wearing all black clothing.

Investigators are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage from the area to contact police.
