Appeal after reported child approach at Gundagai

Police are appealing for information after reports of a child approach in Gundagai this week.

About 2pm on Wednesday (19 May 2021), a 14-year-old boy was walking with his school group in parkland off Ol Bell Drive, Gundagai, when he was approached by a man.

Police have been told the man grabbed the boy by the arms and pulled him in closer, before the man let go and walked off with an unknown female, who was on the other side of the walking track.

Fifteen minutes later, the students and teachers were at Anzac Park, when a small dark grey or silver hatchback with black number plates parked near the canteen area.

Friends of the boy identified the man and the female in the car as those who were involved in the earlier incident.

It was reported to police yesterday (Thursday 20 May 2021), and officers from Riverina Police District have commenced an investigation.

As inquiries continue, police would like to speak to a man who may be able to assist with inquiries.

He is described as around 180cm tall with a medium build and short grey hair.

At the time, he was wearing a tan coloured shirt, grey vest and pants.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
