Appeal after reported child approach at Wagga Wagga

Police are appealing for information after reports of a child approach in Wagga Wagga at the weekend.

About 2.40pm on Sunday 21 February 2021, a six-year-old boy was in the front yard of a home on Montgomery Street, Ashmont, when he was approached by a man driving a black utility.

Police have been told the man waved to the boy, before driving closer and stopping to speak with him.

A woman, known to the boy, yelled at the man and he drove away.

The incident was reported to police yesterday (Monday 22 February 2021) and an investigation commenced by officers from Riverina Police District.

As inquiries continue, police would like to speak to a man who may be able to assist with inquiries.

He is described as being aged in his late 20s and was wearing a hat at the time of the incident.

Police are also appealing for anyone who may have seen a black Mazda BT50 in the area around the time of the incident, to come forward.
