Appeal for dashcam after pedestrian seriously injured during Ballarat collision

Detectives from the Major Collison Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage after a female pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries during a collision in Ballarat this morning.

It's believed the woman was struck by a white garbage truck while crossing Doveton Street, at the intersection of Eyre Street, about 8.35am.

The pedestrian, a 61-year-old Wendouree woman, sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital where she remains.

The driver of the truck, a 45-year-old man from Golden Point, stopped to render assistance and was taken to hospital for observation.

Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

They would especially like to speak to a male witness who was travelling eastbound on Eyre Street in a gold or grey Toyota Camry when the incident occurred.

He stopped to render assistance but did not pass on his details to attending police.

Any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
