Appeal over armed robbery near Newcastle, NSW

Police investigating an armed robbery near Newcastle today are appealing for public assistance, NSW Police say.

Just before 4.30pm (Sunday 16 September 2018), a man entered a fast food store on Kenrick Street, The Junction, and threatened a female employee with a knife.

The man stole cash and food before fleeing the store on foot.

No one was injured.

Officers from Newcastle City Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.

Police wish to speak with a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

He has been described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged between 30-35, of a slim build, with a sore or injury to the bottom of his nose, an unshaved head and facial hair. He was last seen wearing a dark green hooded jumper, light-coloured pants, a blue backpack and sandals.

Any witnesses or anyone with information is urged to come forward.
