Appeal to identify male after 90-year-old woman robbed, NSW

Inquiries are continuing to identify a man who might be able to assist with inquiries after a 90-year-old woman was robbed in her unit at Moama, in southern NSW., NSW Police say.

About 1.55am today, a 90-year-old woman was asleep in her Council Street Moama unit when she was awoken by a man going through her bedroom drawers.

The woman told police the man threatened her with a knife and demanded money. He left the house with a quantity of cash. The woman notified a family member and police were contacted.

Police believe this robbery is linked to an incident that happened earlier in the evening.

About 10.50pm yesterday, a 61-year-old man and 66-year-old woman returned to their accommodation in Shaw Street.

After hearing noises coming trom the back of the premises, the 61-year-old has disturbed a male in the backyard.

About 12.30am, the couple were awoken by a front window breaking in their unit.

The couple told police the man, who had previously been in the backyard, put his head through the window and demanded money.

The 61-year-old man threw a chair towards the window and the man left empty handed.

Deniliquin Local Area Command Detectives would like to speak to a man they believe can assist with inquiries into both incidents. He has been described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, approximately 173cm tall, of a medium build, unshaven with dark hair.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stopers.
