Appeal to locate escapees, NSW

Police are appealing for public assistance to locate two prisoners who escaped from a minimum-security correctional facility in the state’s Riverina area, NSW Police say.

Officers from Albury Local Area Command were called to Albury Street, Tumbarumba, after a stolen Ford Falcon utility truck crashed into a power pole just after 1.30am today (Thursday 16 November 2017).

Inside the vehicle, officers located a green gaol-issued beanie.

Police contacted Mannus Correctional Centre and were informed that 23-year-old Joel McCorkindale and 37-year-old Norman Lizano were missing.

It’s believed they may be headed for the Young and Parklea areas.

Joel McCorkindale is described as being of Caucasian appearance, between 175cm and 180cm tall with a thin build, blond hair and blue eyes.

Norman Lizano has been described as being of Caucasian appearance, 180cm tall, medium build, brown hair and brown eyes, and tattoos on his left shoulder and both arms.

Police are warning members of the public not to approach the men, but instead call Triple Zero (000) immediately.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
