Bayside Council Libraries and the Nicole and Julie Fitzsimons Foundation have launched the inaugural Julie Fitzsimons Library & History Scholarship.
The $1,500 scholarship will support a young Bayside resident undertaking studies in library science, history, education or literature. It is open to Year 12 and Undergraduate students who live in Bayside and are enrolled in, or planning to enrol in, an eligible course.
Named in honour of Julie Fitzsimons, a former library staff member and local historian, the scholarship celebrates her love of books, history and lifelong learning.
The successful applicant will be selected by Foundation and Council staff, with the recipient to be announced at Rockdale Library in early October.
