Armed man charged after assaulting police at Tahmoor

A man has been charged after allegedly assaulting police in the state's McArthur region.

About 9.50pm (Friday 5 May 2023), officers attached to Camden Police Area Command were called to York Street, Tahmoor, following reports of a man armed with a machete.

On arrival, the man allegedly ran at police resulting in an altercation, during which the 50-year-old was arrested.

He was taken to hospital where he was treated for minor injuries. No police officers were injured.

On his release from hospital, the man was conveyed to Narellan Police Station where he was charged with five counts of stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm, custody of knife in public place, assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm and possess prohibited drug.

He was refused bail and appeared in Parramatta Local Court yesterday (Sunday 7 May 2023), where he was formally refused bail to re-appear at Picton Local Court on Wednesday 10 May 2023.
