Armed robbery and assaults at Rockhampton

Three teenagers have been charged following a series of incidents in Rockhampton overnight including the alleged armed robbery and assault of a taxi driver and the attempted robbery of a licensed premises.

It will be alleged that not long after midnight three males were disturbed by a man as they attempted to break into two vehicles parked outside a hotel on Lower Dawson Road at Allenstown.

The 47-year-old man was allegedly assaulted with a golf club by one of the trio before they fled the scene empty-handed.

It is further alleged just after 1am two males armed with golf clubs were seen at a caravan park on Lower Dawson Road attempting to break into a number of vehicles before driving off in a black Ford Falcon ute.

The stolen vehicle was then driven to a licensed premises on Brown Street in Berserker at around 1.50am where three males exited and struck the glass door with a golf club.

Two of the group then entered the rear of the business and allegedly attempted to grab a cash till from the gaming area, however were unsuccessful and left empty-handed.

At around 2am a 26-year-old male taxi driver was parked in his vehicle on the side of Thozet Road in Frenchville when he was rammed from behind by a black Ford ute.

Two males then exited the ute and smashed open the driver's side window of the taxi with a golf club and demanded money.

The pair then allegedly held a knife to the victim and took a sum of cash from him before fleeing in the stolen ute.

Ongoing investigations led police to a Rockhampton address where three teenagers were arrested this morning, a 17-year-old boy and 18-year-old man from Allenstown and a 19-year-old man from Depot Hill.

They were all charged with five counts of enter premises with intent, two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count each of armed robbery in company with violence, attempted armed robbery and burglary.

The two men are due to appear in Rockhampton Magistrates Court today.

No one was seriously injured as a result of the incidents.
