Arrest - assault - Darwin

Northern Territory Police have arrested a youth in relation to an incident at a shopping center earlier today.

Around 10am, two security guards were conducting patrols of the shopping centre on Trower Road when they became aware of a domestic disturbance involving a 16-year-old male and a young female.

It is alleged the youth became verbally threatening and abusive and refused to comply with direction to leave the area. The youth physically assaulted both security officers when they attempted to remove him from the premises.

The youth fled the area, smashing the window of a parked car as he ran away.

One security officer received a broken arm and the other received stitches to his mouth.

Police arrested the youth late this afternoon and he remains in custody awaiting charges.
