Arrest at Elizabeth Railway Station, South Australia

A man has been arrested after he was found allegedly breaking into cars at the Elizabeth Railway Station last night.

Just after 8pm on Wednesday 27 February, a member of the public reported seeing a man holding a screwdriver standing next to a car with a smashed window on Mountbatten Square next to the Elizabeth Railway Station.

Elizabeth patrols were quick to respond and on arrival saw the man sitting in the car with the smashed window. On seeing the patrol however the suspect made a run for it, by jumping over a few fences, but after a short foot pursuit he was quickly apprehended a short distance away.

The 26-year-old man from Cheltenham was arrested and charged with property damage and illegal interference of a motor vehicle. He was refused police bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court later today.
