One person is in custody following an aggravated robbery in Onehunga this morning.
At around 6.10am, the offender approached the victim on State Avenue.
Detective Senior Sergeant Rebecca Kirk, Auckland City CIB, says the offender was holding a firearm as he demanded the victim's vehicle, a black Volkswagen.
"Thankfully, the victim was not injured."
The offender then fled in the stolen vehicle.
"Motorway cameras tracked the Volkswagen as it travelled through Highbrook.
"With the assistance of Eagle, the stolen vehicle and the offender were located in Beachlands," Detective Senior Sergeant Kirk says.
A 20-year-old man was arrested without incident.
A subsequent search of the vehicle located a firearm.
Charges are pending.
