Karratha Police have arrested a 34 year old man after an incident during the early hours of today, Saturday 10 December 2016.
It will be alleged around 3am a man became involved in a physical altercation with a co-worker before taking possession of a forklift and using it to damage the Solar Panel station which supplies power to the entire island. , WA Police say
It is further alleged the man also used the forklift to flip a bus used to transport tourists around the island onto its roof before overturning a second vehicle.
The damage caused to the island’s infrastructure and the vehicles is estimated to be in excess of $150,000.
A 34 year old man of Thevenard Island has been charged with Criminal Damage and he will appear before the Karratha Magistrates Court on 21 December 2016.
