Arrest warrant issued; inquiries continue into carjacking - Figtree

Detectives investigating an alleged carjacking in the Illawarra today have issued a warrant for the arrest of a man.

Just before 10am (Tuesday 9 April 2019), officers from Wollongong Police District were contacted following reports a man had been carjacked on St George Avenue, Figtree.

On arrival, police were told the 48-year-old man was approached by another man, who threatened him with a firearm before stealing his silver Range Rover.

Local police commenced a large-scale search with the assistance of Traffic and Highway Patrol Command and PolAir, and the Range Rover was located unattended at Berkeley about 11am.

The car has since been seized and will undergo an extensive forensic examination.

Following inquiries, detectives have issued an arrest warrant for Glenn Wilson, aged 42.

Wilson is described as being of Caucasian appearance, approximately 185cm tall, with a solid build and brown hair.

Anyone who sees him, or believes they know his whereabouts, is urged not to approach him but to contact Triple Zero (000) immediately.
