Arrested man hospitalised following woman's death in Bundeena

A man arrested over the death of a woman at Bundeena, in Sydney’s south, at the weekend, NSW Police say.

About 3.30pm on Sunday (24 April 2016), emergency services were called to a home on Beachcomber Avenue, Bundeena, where they located the body of a 51-year-old woman.

Upon arrival police also found a 17-year-old male with an injured arm. He was taken to Sutherland Hospital for treatment.

Officers from Sutherland Local Area Command and the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad launched an investigation into the incident.

About 5pm yesterday, a 51-year-old man, who police will allege was the woman’s former partner, was arrested on Wallace Street, Braidwood, following a pursuit with police.

It’s believed the pursuit began on the Braidwood Road, Boro, about 4.40pm after Highway Patrol officers recognised his vehicle.

The pursuit ended when the man’s vehicle hit an embankment. It’s believed the man struck his face on the steering wheel.

He was initially arrested and taken to Queanbeyan Police Station, however he was later taken to Queanbeyan Hospital – then transferred to Canberra Hospital for treatment of a broken jaw and a neck injury.

The man remains under police guard whilst officers apply for an arrest warrant.
