Arson Squad charge man for damage to police vehicles

Arson Squad detectives have charged an 27-year-old man with Criminal Damage after an incident that occurred on Sunday 1 March 2020.

It will be alleged around 11pm, the man doused 3 x police cars with accelerant before setting them alight outside the Fremantle Police Station.

It will be further alleged the value of damage caused is approximately $160,000.

A combination of strong support from the local community and thorough investigative work by investigators, resulted in the arrest and subsequent charge of the man.

The 27-year-old man from Gosnells has been charged with one count of 'Criminal Damage by Fire' and is due to appear in Fremantle Magistrates Court on 16 March 2020.

WA Police Force thank members of the public for their assistance and support throughout this investigation, particularly for information which led to the identity of the suspect.
