Artist's forte goes with flow

Talented young artist Rebecca Egan has not had anyone play her artwork before.

But from today, visitors can play her Murray River-inspired piano artwork in The Cube courtyard.

Rebecca, 21, thinks the idea of youngsters having a bash on the keys is a fun idea and she's glad she put in to paint it.

"I've done works before on the ocean but we aren't anywhere near the ocean," she said.

"So I decided to change it to the river and incorporate the Murray River into the idea.

"I really like drawing bugs and plants so [fish] is in the same vein."

Her highly detailed artwork depicts a human sitting on the banks of the Murray River with fish and other animals, such as a platypus and crabs, taking up space in the river water.

Although she usually prefers to paint with watercolour, Rebecca described the experience of painting on the piano as a great experience.

Rebecca attended high school in Wodonga before moving to Werribee. Her family stills reside in Wodonga.

The artwork took Rebecca more than 20 hours to complete.

The piano is available to play in the courtyard from 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday.
