Global law firm Ashurst has advised John Laing Group Limited, through its joint venture with Equitix, John Laing Investments Limited, on the financial close on the acquisition of Skanska's 50% stake in the I 4 Ultimate Project, thereby securing full ownership of the asset and strengthening its North American platform.
The I-4 Ultimate Project is a public-private partnership (PPP) highway project, which plays a significant role in reducing congestion and provides additional capacity along a busy 21-mile section of Interstate 4 that also serves as a major tourist route across central Florida. The project consists of the design, build, finance, maintenance and operation of the new section of Interstate 4 over a 40-year concession. Construction commenced in 2015 and reached completion in 2022.
