Ashurst Hires Partner to Expand Employment, Safety Practice

Global law firm Ashurst has appointed Scarlet Reid as a partner in its employment and safety practice, as the firm continues to grow its work health and safety (WHS) offering, with both legal advice and risk advisory services through Ashurst Risk Advisory.

Scarlet has over 25 years of experience in WHS and employment law. Her safety practice focuses on investigations, incident management, and assisting clients to respond to safety regulators. Scarlet has significant experience in litigation including WHS prosecutions, coronial inquests, and inquiries. She frequently undertakes investigations relating to workplace misconduct including fraud, corruption, and discrimination issues.

A former senior prosecutor with SafeWork NSW (then the WorkCover Authority of NSW), Scarlet brings a wealth of experience in understanding safety regulators and the prosecution process. Her clients include large private corporations and a range of NSW and Commonwealth Government entities.

Scarlet joins Ashurst from McCullough Robertson, where she was a partner and established that firm's Sydney employment and safety practice.

She is recognised as a "Leading Individual in Labour and Work Health and Safety" by Legal 500 Asia Pacific, is ranked in Health and Safety by Chambers and Partners Asia Pacific, is listed as a "Leading Work Health & Safety Lawyer" by Doyles Guide, and has been recognised in Work Health & Safety and Employment Law in Best Lawyers since 2017.
