Assault and intimidation charges laid after man verbally abused - Kirrawee

A woman has been charged over allegedly abusing and assaulting a man in Sydney's south.

Just before 6.30am today (Monday 27 April 2020), police will allege a woman approached a man on the Old Princes Highway at Kirrawee and asked for a cigarette.

When the man refused, she allegedly became aggressive and threatened him before she started kicking at him.

Police will allege in court that as the man tried to walk away, the woman followed him down the street and continued to yell abuse at him.

People passing by contacted officers from Sutherland Shire Police Area Command, who attended and commenced an investigation.

A 38-year-old woman was arrested nearby and taken to Sutherland Police Station, where she was charged with common assault, behave in offensive manner in/near public place/school, and stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm.

The Kirrawee woman was refused bail and appeared at Central Local Court today, where she was formally granted bail to appear before Sutherland Local Court on Thursday 25 June 2020.
