Assault investigation, North Ward

Police are investigating after a number of males forced their way into a home in North Ward overnight.

Shortly after 8pm on Friday July 1 two occupants of a Cook Street unit opened the door to the group who then overpowered and assaulted them.

During the assault, money and personal items were stolen.

The occupants sustained cuts and abrasions during the assault.

A crime scene has been declared as investigations continue.

Investigators are appealing for anyone with information to come forward, and are asking homeowners, businesses and motorists in the vicinity to provide relevant CCTV or dashcam footage.
