Assault on boat ramp in Wellington Point, QLD

Police have released images of a man who may be able to assist with inquires following the assault of 61-year-old man at boat ramp in Wellington Point this morning, Queensland Police say.

Preliminary information suggests at around 6.30am on Main Road South a man approached the victim who was standing on the ramp and began to yell abuse before pushing him over.

The 61-year-old man stumbled backwards, hitting the passenger door of his car.

The man then again approached the victim and punched him in the face, causing him to fall over, before kicking him in the ribs and chest as he lay on the ground.

The man then rode away from the scene on a bicycle.

The 61-year-old victim sustained cuts and bruising as a result of the incident.

He is described as Caucasian in appearance, around 173cm tall with a solid build and was wearing black, red and white sporting attire with a white bicycle helmet.

Anyone who may recognise the man in the images is asked to contact police.
