Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs Monica Medina will travel to France, February 8-11, to participate in the One Planet Summit for the Ocean (One Ocean Summit), sponsored by the Government of France. Assistant Secretary Medina will speak on panels that address ocean governance and the role of women in the protection of the ocean, among others. She will also engage with government counterparts to advance efforts related to marine protected areas; ocean plastic pollution; countering illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing; and conservation and sustainable use of marine biological diversity in areas beyond national jurisdiction.
