Attempted Armed Robbery Appeal, Aitkenvale

Detectives from the Townsville Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) are appealing for public information following an incident in Aitkenvale on 23 November.

It will be alleged around 8.15pm, a 33-year-old Townsville City woman boarded a bus at the intersection of Ross River Road and Petunia Street, before becoming involved in a verbal altercation with the driver, a 73-year-old Kelso man.

Police further allege the woman presented a knife and threatened the man before causing damage to the bus.

He sustained a laceration to his hand and did not require medical treatment.

The woman was arrested on the bus a short time later and charged with one count each of attempted armed robbery, serious assault person over 60, and wilful damage.

She was remanded in custody to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on 3 December.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident on the bus at the time to come forward.
