Attempted murder charge at Mount Isa

Police have charged a man with attempted murder (domestic violence offence) following an incident in Mount Isa overnight.

At approximately 10.30pm on Friday, December 30, police were called to Burke Street following reports of a serious assault.

Upon police arrival, a male in his 40s was located with multiple stab wounds and was transported to the Mount Isa Hospital for treatment to non-life threatening injuries.

A woman in her 20s was located nearby with multiple stab wounds and was also transported to the Mount Isa Hospital where she remains in a stable condition.

Police arrested a 23-year-old Soldiers Hill man at the scene.

He has been charged with one count each of attempted murder (DV offence), contravention of a DV order (aggravated offence) and acts intended to maim.

He is expected to next appear at Mount Isa Magistrates Court on February 13.
