Integrity NT launches as a new identity for independent oversight in the Northern Territory
Territorians now have a simpler way to access independent oversight services with the launch of Integrity NT, the new public-facing identity of the Office of the Integrity and Ethics Commissioner.
Integrity NT brings together the functions previously administered by the Independent Commissioner Against Corruption (ICAC), the Ombudsman, the Information Commissioner, and the Health and Community Services Complaints Commission under one organisation.
Integrity and Ethics Commissioner Peter Shoyer said the launch was designed to make it easier for people to access independent oversight and complaint-handling services.
"Most people don't think in terms of legislation or government structures. They simply want to know where to go when something doesn't seem right."
"Integrity NT provides a central entry point for the community and public officers, while retaining the specialist expertise, powers and independence of each statutory function."
The launch reflects an administrative consolidation of four previously separate offices under a single Commissioner.
Importantly, the legislative powers, responsibilities and independence of each function remain unchanged.
The NT Ombudsman will continue to exercise powers under the ICAC Act. Likewise, the Independent Commissioner Against Corruption, Information Commissioner and Health and Community Services Complaints functions will continue to operate under their respective legislation.
Chief Executive Officer, Reece Kershaw said:
"We want Integrity NT to be an employer of choice for skilled professionals who want to do meaningful work, uphold the highest standards of integrity, and contribute to public confidence."
The new brand reflects a shared commitment across all functions to integrity, accountability, transparency and fair decision-making.
Integrity NT's new website provides information about all services through a single online gateway.
