Attempted murder charge, Kenmore

A 54-year-old man has been charged with domestic violence offences including attempted murder following an incident at Kenmore this morning, Saturday March 12.

At approximately 2.30am police were called to a Kenmore house, where they located a woman, aged in her 40s, with injuries to her neck and hands.

Police will allege a man that is known to her has attended the property and attempted to suffocate and strangle the woman.

A violent struggle ensued, in which the woman was able to break free and seek refuge at a neighbouring property.

She was transported to hospital in a stable condition.

Police intercepted a vehicle a short distance away, arresting a 54-year-old Taringa man.

He's been charged with attempted murder (domestic violence offence), enter dwelling with intent by break at night (domestic violence offence) and contravention of domestic violence order (aggravated offence).

He was refused police bail and is due to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday, March 14.
